Life-giving waters weave through the remote plains of Mana Pools National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and wildlife haven. On game drives, watch for buffalo herds, stalking lionesses or Nile crocodiles basking on muddy banks.

Immerse yourself in the park’s beauty during a full day of wildlife viewing, including predators like wild dogs and leopards. Buffalo herds also often graze along the riverbanks.

Embrace the final day in Mana Pools with a sense of freedom and wonder with a walking safari or a tranquil canoe trip on the river. Or perhaps cast a line during a peaceful afternoon fishing excursion.

This morning, fly to Bumi Hills overlooking Lake Kariba. Fill your stay here with adventure, embarking on game drives, safari cruises and fishing expeditions. Alternatively, set out on walks in nearby Matusadona National Park. Bounded by the Ume River to the west and the Sanyati River to the east, it’s marked by “drowned forests” populated by large buffalo herds. It’s also home to a small but significant number of endangered black rhinos, elephants, lions, hippos and crocodiles, not to mention some 200 species of birds. The sunsets here are often fiery red, so keep your camera handy as the sun dips below the petrified trees and shimmering waters.

Game viewing opportunities are plentiful, whether you opt for an open vehicle safari, a walking safari, or a boat trip on Lake Kariba. Perhaps fish for tilapia or vundu on the lake or enjoy a sunset cruise.

A short flight takes you to Hwange National Park, where cheetahs hunt across the plains, roller birds paint the sky with their vibrant plumage and elephants gather in massive herds at water pans. Spend the next few days immersing yourself in the park’s wonders, embarking on game drives in open safari vehicles or venturing out on foot on a walking safari through the savanna grasslands.
